Yangon
Yangon is the capital city of Myanmar and the main gateway to
Myanmar. Yangon was founded by King Alaungpaya on the site of a
small village called Dagon when he conquered Lower Myanmar in 1755.
The name "Yangon" means "End of Strife" which was anglicized to
Rangoon.
Mandalay
Mandalay is the second largest city and the royal capital of the
last Myanmar Kingdom. It is also known as Ratanabon - Naypyidaw
(means Gem City), and was built in 1857 by King Mindon. Mandalay is
a repository of Myanmar's traditions and culture as well as the
centre of Myanmar arts and crafts.
Bagan
Bagan is one of three ancient religious places well-known by the
world and (also known as Pagan) is one of the richest archaeological
sites in Asia, because more than 2,000 pagodas cover in mostly
undamaged condition an area of about 40 square kilometers about the
extent of the classical Bagan.
Mount Popa
From Bagan to Popa, it is one and half hours journey. Popa, a
flat topped mountain of 736 meters high, which has been
traditionally believed to be the haunt of the NAT spirits. There,
you can climb the Popa mountain of 1518 meters high or go
sightseeing around the Popa village at the mountain's foot.
Mrauk U
Mrauk-U is an ancient city of Rakhine Kingdom and also can be
seen stone carving pagodas in the (15-16) A.D. Shitthaung Pagoda,
Dukkanthein Pagoda and Andawthein Shrine are some of the sites to
see in Mrauk-U.

Kyaik Hti Yo
A 160-kilometre drive from Yangon, and an invigorating
12-kilometre trek uphill along a meandering trail from the base camp
at Kin-pun ... an overwhelming sight will meet your eye - a golden
boulder, shaped like a hermit?s head and capped with a 6-metre high
gilded pagoda perched precariously on the edge of a precipice, 1121
meters above sea level - the holy rock of Kyaiktiyo, Myanmars most
popular pilgrimage centre. Legend has it that the Buddha's sacred
hair is enshrined in this rock.
Inle
Located at a place 900 meters above sea level, a legendary
highland lake of Inle which is 22.4km long and 10.2km wide, boasts
of floating farm, floating house and floating bazaar. The most
striking feature of the lake is that the lake dwellers row their
boats by leg instead of by hand. There, you can also study strange
customs and lifestyle of the Inle inhabitants. Beyond the lake,
there live Padaung girls, who wear brass rings around their necks as
being stretched out to be longer. From Inle, an hour's trip will
take you to Taunggyi.
Taunggyi is the capital of Shan State, where
colorfully dress hill tribes' flock to sell a range of luscious
vegetables and other farm produce. Taunggyi is accessible by road
and air.
Pindaya
Three-hour's drive from Inle enables you to visit Pindaya, a town
which is noted especially for its natural caves. There are 8094 of
centuries-old Buddha images seated in these caves. In its
surrounding live Danu and Pa-O, the national races wearing their
national dress with variety of colors that make the visitors soothe
their minds.
Kachin State
Located at the northern most of Myanmar with the snow capped
mountain. This state covers a hilly region extending from the well
known himalaya. Among these the highest peak is Kakaborazi which is
little bit over 29000 feet high. The capital of Kachin State is
Myitkyina and most noteworthy places are the confluence of the
Meikha and Malikha rivers which from the longest river of Myanmar,
the Ayeyawady: the historical ledo road dating back to ww2: the
colourful ethnical tribes fo Jinphaw, Rawan, Lashi, Lachaik, Lesu,
Maru with their own dialect, costumes and cultures.
Ngwe Saung
Ngwe
Saung Beach is a newly developed and the latest beach resort in
Myanmar. It is located in the delta area of Ayeyarwaddy division,
about 190 kilometers away west of Yangon. Guests can visit that
beach about 3½ or 4 hour drive by car from Yangon crossing Chaungtha
beach and Pathein , capital of Ayeyarwaddy division. There is an
elephant camp between Pathein and Ngwe Saung with interesting mighty
beasts' movement.
The beach stretches about 15 Kilometers with white sand and
crystal blue sea. Visitors can enjoy there by bathing, surfing,
diving and relaxing with the pleasant sea view of the Silver Beach (Ngwe
Saung). |
